DAY 5 OF INFLUENZA

Nice, today is a saturday so i dont have to call in sick, but then again it sucks to be sick on a weekend cuz ya cant do shit. Anyways, seems like the Influenza has regained strength, makin me feel even more shitter than yesterday. Lucky Susanne came over to brave the virus and make some magical chinese herbal soup, well it was just sugar and ginger, but anything with ginger makes it herbal and magical ..

DAY 4 OF INFLUENZA

Ok, didnt want to do the school thing again. Felt too shitty to do anything, even to make a conversation was a task. So called in sick today. It is better to stay home and rest than to have the English teacher infect them all with Influenza. Then i would be teaching them something new ...

"How are you?" ........... "I am sick!!!" ... you bastards

Anyways lucky Ogawa Sensei is understanding, so i called her up to report i was sick. She said dont worry, just stay home and that she is sick too, she probably got it from her daughter and her husband, and might have passed it to me. Also the Influenza strand this year is a type B, yes there are different types, so this year it is the stronger type.

Shit sure is strong, i havent had the flu for this long before.

INTERESTING QUOTE

"In school we learned that a straight line is the shortest distance between two points. But actually that's not true. You see, if you fold the sheet of paper and punch a hole through it, you begin to realize that a wormhole is the shortest distance between two points." Michio Kaku

DAY 3 OF INFLUENZA

Today i thought i would give it a shot to go to Ibo elementary school. I kinda felt pressure to go even though i was pretty damn sick with all my flu illnesses persisting. Before when i missed school at Ibo it was because i had a stomach virus, i ate some bad food and called in sick. The teachers are pretty nice there, but they seemed to be joking around that i was always sick on purpose to miss their school, which they might have thought up from one of their bad ass 6th grade classes that they think i didnt like. It was a bit difficult class, but wasnt the reason why i didnt go, it was simply because i was sick.

Anyways braved the cold, and with a pounding headache pedaled my bike to school and met Musue Sensei who usually picks me up. She asked if i was alright, and of course i answered, nope. I think i have a cold or influenza i said. I then asked if i could cut down my usual 5 classes to 4 and leave at lunch. She kindly did as she phoned the school.

Entered the techer room, teachers were saying "daijobu?" meaning are you ok? Sometimes i answered sometimes i didnt. Luckily it was just the 1st graders and 2nd graders today, easy stuff. But then again, that is not a safe age group to teach when u are sick, infection is pretty easy, so i feel kinda bad. It was nice that the 2nd grade teachers helped me teach classes so i wouldnt have to do as much. They are so nice. It helped when i always got them involved so they kinda know my routine and know what to do.

Ah even the cute first graders asked if i was ok.

In the end the 1st graders were bunched together and for 3rd period thankfully, and i was able to go home afterwards. Kiyoku Sensei was nice enough to channel some "genki" happy energy into me before class.

Ah its good to be home.

DAY 2 OF INFLUENZA

Damn sick again, i usually dont get that sick, well not back home in Seattle, but here school is like a breading ground for germs. Yeah so it started all yesterday, starting to feel dizzy, and soreness in the back. Yes it was the beginnings of the flu. Or many a times they call it in Japan, Influenza. Anyways chillin at home with very slow motion. And it even gets better when i have to go to elementary school tomorrow, oh how "genki" happy it will be!

Influenza, commonly referred to as "the flu," is an acute, contagious respiratory infection caused by one of many influenza viruses. Symptoms of influenza include inflammation of the nose, throat, and eyes, fever, cough, headache, muscle aches, and generalized weakness.

WINDY WINDY

Well i thought winter was pretty much after returning from the frozen depths of Sapporo, but i guess i was wrong. Even though the sun was gleaming bright, the wind was howling strong. Brrrr, still pretty damn cold and it is february, thought it would warm up more, but i guess i was wrong, but that is ok, it just means an extension on the snowboarding season. Time to wrap up the scarf again.

MISOOOO HUNGRY

I think i am turning japanese, because it seems like every dinner i have now a days consists of miso soup. Before japan i never really craved miso, but maybe its the high salt intake, or the wink of msg, or the low price of 24 packs for 2 bucks that turns me to this lovable bean paste soup. Then again, it could be that it cooks up with only the addition of hot water, how easy is that!

A MUSIC HALL

Sometimes living in my little area amazes me. Ok, living here is like living in Bellingham, small and far from civilization, but it works. Today i was off with susanne to visit our friend Tsuneki who plays the oboe with a nice orchestra group. Today was a free showing in the area at the local theatre hall which i have never been too. I drove by it before but never went in. But damn, when i went it, it was beautiful, nicely designed, nice wood, chairs, and great acoustics. All this splendor in such a little town, wierd sometimes, as just down the street u can find some beat up old homes with no heat, nor AC.

BRIGHT AND ORANGE

At school there is not much room for me to put my jacket, so i usually throw it on my bag, or on my chair. But when it is on my chair it usually lands on the ground because i sit in the middle of the teacher room and everyone is always crusing by. So i thought why bring my good jacket, when i should have a crappy one for school. Plus it would be nice to get a nice bright jacket when i ride my bike to the gym, i have encountered many instances of nearly getting runned over by a car even though my gym is 5 minutes away. To answer my dilema i sought off the great Sports Authority store located just in Himeji. Lucky i have been eyeing this nice bright orange rain gear set up with pants and jacket for only 3000yen or 30 bucks, nice deal. So i had to scoop it up.
